Christians are called to die with Christ, so as to share in his new life after Resurrection – Pope

The Resurrection brings to light “a new condition of human being,” Pope Benedict XVI said at his weekly public audience on Easter Wednesday, April 27.

“Christ’s resurrection is the door to a new life that is no longer subjected to the termination of time, a life immersed in the eternity of God,” the Holy Father told the 20,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square. He reminded them that Christians are called to die with Christ, so as to share in his new life after Resurrection.

“By living this new life we are not only interiorly transformed, but we also change the world around us,” Pope Benedict said. He added that the goal for Christians is “not only to transform ourselves but also to transform the world.”
