House of Horrors Doctor Worth Millions

‘House of Horrors’ doc worth millions: assets frozen while legal action underway

Kermit Gosnell

PHILADELPHIA, March 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Kermit Gosnell, the abortion doctor who ran the notorious abortion clinic that has been dubbed a “house of horrors” in Philadelphia, apparently has millions of dollars in assets, which he has agreed to freeze while he faces legal action.

Gosnell faces murder charges for killing seven newborn infants and for the death of one of his clients. He is also charged with committing illegal late-term abortions.

The family of Nepali immigrant Karnamaya Mongar, 41, who died during an abortion from an anesthesia overdose administered by Gosnell’s staff, demanded that Gosnell freeze any assets while they file a wrongful death lawsuit against him.

The Associated Press reports that Gosnell’s attorney said the abortion doctor will only sell a $900,000 beach home if he needs the cash to defend himself in legal battles. Otherwise, Gosnell will neither sell nor transfer any of the seven Philadelphia properties he owns.

While Gosnell is believed to have made millions off his Philadelphia abortion business, he ran a filthy clinic with conditions so foul the place was described as a “house of horrors” by investigators.

Former employees testified that Gosnell may have killed “hundreds” of newborn infants by severing their spinal chords after birth. However, he could only be charged with seven cases because the statute of limitations for infanticide in Pennsylvania is two years. When they raided his facility, investigators found refrigerators full of baby body parts.

The grand jury that investigated Gosnell’s case blamed state officials for failing to investigate repeated credible allegations of wrongdoing at Gosnell’s clinic. The jury said that officials were more concerned about the political implications of prosecuting an abortion clinic than the lives of Gosnell’s poor, mostly non-white clients.

Gosnell faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted.
